JABOTICABA—AKA “Yaboticaba”
Jaboticaba tastes fruity and florally. It’s flavor is said to be similar to a grape’s, with
some hints of acidity.
Jaboticaba also smells sweet like grapes.
Jaboticaba has a (green/blue/purple/black) hard, thick skin and a gelatinous
(white/beige) inner flesh similar to grapes.
Jaboticaba is native to Brazil. It also grows in other warm or tropical regions too, like the
rest of South America, Hawaii, and even California.
Jaboticaba is eaten raw, mind the pit in the middle, and is commonly added to desserts
or turned into syrup or jelly.
