GANDARIA—AKA “Mango Plum”
Depending on the type and ripeness, Gandaria tastes sweet, sour, or a mix of both.
Ripe Gandaria has a light pine or turpentine-scented aroma.
Gandaria has a (yellow/green/orange) smooth, thin skin with a juicy and soft flesh when ripe. Its center seed/pit is uniquely purple.
Gandaria is native to Southeast Asia, where it’s mainly grown. It’s also exported to Europe.
Gandaria is eaten raw, juiced, and added to smoothies and salads. It’s also an ingredient in desserts, sauces, tropical candies, and preserves.
