RAMBUTAN—AKA “Chom Chom fruit (“Messy hair fruit” in Vietnamese)”

• What does it taste like?
Rambutan tastes sweet, sour, and tropial. It has a taste that’s similar to grapes, lychees, and longans.

• What does it smell like?
Rambutan doesn’t smell through the skin, but the flesh smells sweet and sour, like ripe pineapple.

• What does it feel like?
Rambutan skin is (red/yellow/) hair-like and easy to open. Rambutan flesh is (white) juicy and jelly-like, and it surrounds the inner pit/seed.

• Where does it grow?
Rambutan is native to Southeast Asia. It also grows in other tropical climates like Africa, Mexico, the Caribbean, Puerto Rico, and South America.

• How do you eat it?
Rambutan is mostly eaten raw on its own, added to fruit bowls, or made into candy.
