MANDARIN—AKA “Mandarine”
Like clementines, Mandarins taste completely sweet unlike most other citrus fruits.
Mandarins smell sweet and citrusy, like oranges and lemons.
Mandarins have a (orange) smooth, thin skin that’s easy to peel, and a juicy, fibrous flesh with seeds.
Mandarins are native to Southeast Asia, specifically the Philippines. They now mostly grow in China, Japan, the East Indies, Central America, and South America.
Mandarins are typically eaten raw on their own, juiced, or added to salads. They also can be added to desserts, sauces, candies, and preserves.
