MANGOSTEEN—AKA “The Queen of Fruit”

• What does it taste like?
Mangosteens have a taste that is very popular and pleasant to people. They’re described to taste like a mix of citrus fruit, banana, peach, and lychee. It can taste sweet, sour, or bitter.

• What does it smell like?
Mangosteens have a very subtle aroma, with it containing only 1/400 of the chemical substances in other fragrant fruits.

• What does it feel like?
Mangosteens have a (purple) smooth, hard outer shell that holds a (white) juicy, creamy inner flesh with big seeds.

• Where does it grow?
Mangosteens are native to Southeast Asia. Besides Southeast Asian countries, Mangosteens also are grown in Hawaii.

• How do you eat it?
Mangosteens are mostly eaten raw on their own. They’re also juiced and added to baked goods, candies, and desserts.
